HUNTS U12 COUNTY CUP
WOODSTON DYNAMO
1 BRAMPTON SPARTANS 6
Brampton came away convincing
winners and for the second week running found the
net 6 times, but could have scored 3 times that
amount had they not squandered chance after chance
in the opening period. Taking place on a difficult
pitch and against a hard working team the visitors
created many chances but failed to find the net
until Owen Dixon headed home superbly after a great
Christian Lee cross. Chances continued to come and
go until Adam Pedlar reacted the quickest to chase
down a loose ball that fell to Pete Clark who
memorized 3 defenders before slotting home to put
the visitors in charge. Cameron Macleod in the
Brampton goal was virtually spectator until some
slack play in midfield allowed the home team to
break quickly and pull one back just before the
break, despite a fine effort from the ‘keeper to
keep the ball out. The visitors must have changed
their boots at half time because they were much more
clinical in the second half. Pete Clark added his
second before Adam Pedlar deservedly got on the
score sheet after a great ball out of defence from
James belbin sent him clear and he coolly slotted it
past the advancing ‘keeper. Next on the score sheet
was the hardworking Charlie Naylor, he combined well
down the right with Ryan Barnett before bursting
clear and hammering the ball into the roof of the
net. With the clock running down Noah Foster
released Liam Peacock down the left and after a
smart turn Liam let fly with a shot that was too
strong for the ‘keeper to hold and the ball trickled
over the line and into the net.
Team:- Cameron Macleod, Ryan
Barnett, George Woof, Elliot Eels, Thomas Biddle,
James Belbin, Noah Foster, Charlie Naylor, Jools
Art, Will Brettle, David Hartley, Christian Le, Owen
Dixon, Liam Peacock, Pete Clark, Adam Pedlar, Josh

CAMBS U12 A LEAGUE
WATERBEACH 0
v 6
BRAMPTON SPARTANS
Brampton continued their fine
league form and went top of the league with a
comprehensive victory against a spirited home side.
Credit must go to both teams for putting on such a
good game of football in difficult conditions but it
was the visitors who adapted the quickest, getting
the ball down on the floor and at times playing some
nice neat football and it was no surprise they took
the lead when after some good play from David
Hartley, Josh Dawson controlled the ball brilliantly
and coolly slid the ball under the advancing ‘keeper
to open the scoring, from this point on it was
always going to be difficult for the home side to
contain their visitors who were attacking at will
and once Charlie Naylor capped a fine performance by
adding the first of his brace the game was won.
Brampton totally dominated the second half, with
their back 4 marshalled well by Thomas Biddle
snuffing out any danger the home side possessed,
enabling the free scoring Pete Clark to add 2 well
taken goals after some good work from Adam Pedlar,
Charlie Naylor added his second and a fine all round
team performance was capped off when the hard
working Cristian le coolly headed home another
excellent corner from Ryan Barnett.

Sunday 14th October
League Division A
Spartans 3 v 2
Ramsey Colts
It was
Spartans that enjoyed the early pressure, forcing
the Ramsey keeper into a superb save. The first goal
came from a ball won in midfield, with pass
threaded through to Pete, who raced onto the ball to
slot the ball pass the advancing keeper. Ramsey
battled hard to force themselves back into the game,
but at half-time Spartan's still led by the single
goal.
The
second half started brightly for Spartans with both
Charlie and Owen enjoying good possession on the
ball. It was a move that started on the left, with
the ball moved quickly across the edge of the
penalty to the right, that found an unmarked
Charlie, who drilled the ball pass the diving
keeper. What eventually turned out to be Spartan's
winning goal came from Owen on his home debut, when
his stinging left foot shot flew pass the keeper
into the roof of the net.
A good
game, played in good spirit and enjoyed by two sets
of vocal supporters.

Sunday 7th October
League Cup - Round 1
Brampton Spartans 1 (4)
v 1 (5) Ely Crusaders
For the
third cup game in a row Spartans lost their cup tie
on a penalty shoot-out. With the score at 1v1 after
normal time, an extra 20 minutes of extra-time could
not seperate the teams, despite Spartan's having the
majority of the play inside the Crusader's half.
Spartan's first half goal came from a superb cross
from Charlie, that whistled through the penalty area
and found Ryan running from deep to convert the
cross into the goal.
Despite
the defeat, the Spartans's management were very
pleased with the performance, especially from those
players that normally do not start a match. It gave
some players an extended period of time on the pitch
and it showed with lovely football.
A brave
performance from all players, cheered on by a great
crowd and we wish Crusaders every success in the
next round against fellow Division A opponents
Ramsey Colts.

Sunday 30th
September
League Division A
West Wratting 1 v 3
Brampton Spartans
On a
large senior sized pitch, it was Spartans that
started the brighter, with good play coming down the
left side. However, it was just a few minutes before
half-time that a through ball down the right
released Charlie, who ran on to smash the ball into
the roof of the net. A super strike from 15 yards
out.
Spartans
started the seond half with fresh determination to
come away with a win. However, Spartans clear a
corner and West Wratting grabbed an equaliser. This
sparked Spartan's into life and it was a superb
corner from Ryan that was flicked onwards by Charlie
for the ball to fall at the feet of Josh, who calmly
tapped the ball into the net. Having regained the
lead, Spartans confidence flowed and a neat Ryan,
Christian move led to a ball being laid off to Pete,
whose right foot shoot beat the diving keeper. The
last 15 minutes was played out and Spartans came
away with all 3 points and a share of a 4 team lead
at the top of the Division.

Sunday 23rd
September 2007
Brampton Spartans 7 v 0
Waterbeach Colts
This was
Spartans first home game of the season. The early
exchanges saw Spartans edge the game, but it was on
25 minutes that Christian sent a looping shot over
the keeper to break the deadlock and give Spartans a
one nil lead at half-time.
It was
an explosive first 10 minutes in the second half at
saw Spartans score three scores. The first of Adam's
three goals came on 32 minutes, followed 2 minutes
later when Adam, slotted his shot under the keeper.
On 38 minutes, Charlie bravely beat the advancing
keeper with a looping shot into the empty net. This
was Charlie's first goal for the club. On 45 minutes
Adam completed his hatrick with a right foot shot
under the keeper. The game was wrapped up when a
nice one:two between Christian and Charlie was
finished off by Josh, netting his second goal in two
games. The seventh goal came from a fierce low shot
from Liam who shot low and hard across the keeper.
Overall
a great squad performance, with all the substitutes
playing an important part in this good home win. The
players were again encouraged on my a good amount of
vocal home support.

September 2007 - League Division A
Huntingdon Rowdies 2 v 0 Brampton Spartans U12A
Despite
Spartans dominating large periods of the game, they
failed to find a way of breaking down a strong
Rowdies defence. Rowdies had only 2 strikes on goal
but both resulted in goals !!! Spartans welcomed
club debuts for George, James, Pete and Charlie.
Nick & Garry would like to thank all the
players friends and family who came to watch the
game, their support was fantastic.

September 2007 - League Division A
Spartak 78B 1 v 5 Brampton
Spartans
The team
showed real determination and commitment in winning
this away tie at Spartak. With a hard, bumpy and
sloping pitch to content with, it was the home side
that forced a fantastic save out of Cameron on 10
minutes before Liam opened the scoring with a
powerful looping shot over the keeper.
On 19
minutes Liam scored again when his low shot was
deflected pass the stranded keeper. On 23 minutes a
through ball by David found Adam, who sent a looping
shot over the keeper, to make it 3 nil at half-time.
Ryan
made his team debut today. It was from Ryan's superb
corner on 35 minutes that found an unmarked Josh in
the penalty area, who slotted the ball pass the
keeper and defender on the goal line. Spartans final
goal came from Adam, who never gave up chasing a
loose ball to beat the keeper.
Overall,
this was a positive squad performance, cheered on by
yet again fantastic supporters.
