2009
Chris Osborne, of the under 16s read the remembrance prayer and Charlie
Hasberry, team captain, laid the wreath on behalf of the Club.
.
Every year on Remembrance Sunday,
Brampton Spartans F.C. take a few minutes to pay homage to those from
the Village that made the ultimate sacrifice by giving their lives in
the two Great Wars, so we are able to play our football in a free
country. As a mark of respect we never play games at home before 12 noon
on this day.
We always preceded any matches
played on this day by a Remembrance Service and a Poppy Wreath laying
ceremony. Memorial Playing Fields is dedicated to those brave people.
Many that joined the Services lied
about their age, so they could take part in what they thought was
the big adventure, making them not a lot older and in some cases the
same age as our U16 team.
This years wreath was laid by the
Captain of our Under 16 Team and the service was conducted by the
Brampton Branch of the British Legion.
